All 63 digital waste tracking software providers on the GOV.UK list, compared

Defra will not tell you which software to buy. It lists the providers that connected to the real service and passed the tests, adds a line about buying being at your own risk, and leaves you looking at 63 company names.

So we went through all 63. One at a time, against each provider's own website, on 18 August 2026. Nearly every one is linked, so you can check us.

We are one of the 63. So read this the way you would read any salesman's comparison, then click the links. Where a competitor beats us, the ticks say so. Where we could not find a price we say so rather than write "none". If we have a cell wrong, tell us and we will fix it and say that we did.

What the columns mean

Unlimited users
A gate tablet, the office and the owner is three logins. Some products charge for each.
Works offline
A record made in the dead corner of the yard, sent when the signal comes back.
Inspection evidence
What you can put in front of an inspector without opening a filing cabinet. Ours is a per vehicle pack plus a one tap site register.
ELV paperwork
Certificate of Destruction, telling DVLA, depollution, and the switch from hazardous to non hazardous.
Sells the parts
Whether the software can list what you pull off the car.
Carrier check
Whether the software checks the deliverer's CBDU number against the EA public register at the gate. Ours does it automatically and remembers the answer per supplier.
Weighbridge link
Reads the weight off your weighbridge instead of somebody typing it. We take a typed weight, so this is a cross for us.
Carrier side
For the collections you run yourself, which becomes a reporting job in October 2027. Another cross for us.

Those last two are "not yet" rather than "never". We are still building, and what yards ask for is what gets built next. If a cross in our row is the one thing keeping you off BreakerHQ, email us and say so.

A cross means the provider does not advertise it, not that it cannot do it. A half circle means partly, or promised on a tier that has not launched.

The products a yard like yours would actually shortlist. These accept waste at a site and report the receipt, which is the job the mandate creates on 1 October 2026.

What the list adds up to

Read the 63 together and it thins out fast. About a third are not aimed at a receiving site at all. Another eight have nothing findable behind the listing. Of what is left, four say they work offline.

And on the column that decides a breaker's day, the list agrees with itself. Not one provider on it mentions a Certificate of Destruction, a DVLA notification, a depollution record, the hazardous to non hazardous switch, or an EV battery check. The list was built for waste in general. An ATF is a trade inside it that nobody else has written software for.

Doing it yourself

There is no government web form and Defra has said there will not be one. What is left is a spreadsheet upload on Defra's fixed template, around twenty to twenty five mandatory fields a receipt, and a fresh file for every submission. Defra calls it temporary, and it carries a £26 a year charge. More in there is no government web form.

Every figure above was checked on 18 August 2026 against the provider's own public pages, from the GOV.UK list as published on 10 August 2026. The list grew to 63 providers on 18 August 2026 and the nine new names were checked the same way on 22 August 2026, when Increase Computers' listing changed from FLEX to FRED, Hereford Quarries' from ExcaliburDWT to Merlinium Data Engine, and the Yard Base row was rechecked in full. Our own row was updated 19 August 2026 when the site register, quarantine clock and pre-acceptance shipped, and 21 August 2026 when the carrier check did. The carrier check column was checked against the closest competitors' pages on 21 August, and a cross means it is not advertised. Prices move and providers ship new features, ourselves included.
